Japan is full of surprises, from ancient temples nestled among modern skyscrapers and steps away into plus gardens full of ginkgo and maple trees.  

 

Tokyo is the most populated city in the world, skyscrapers, bright lights, busy and efficient.  It is a modern super city, packed with sights and activities to keep every traveler busy for weeks. 

 

Kyoto, is the most beautiful city in Japan. the ancient capital city of Japan, is the home to a number of temples, gardens, shrines and palaces, is a major tourist destination, second to Tokyo.

Hozugawa River Cruise

The Hozugawa River Cruise is a fantastic way to experience Kyoto’s nature. Beyond Kyoto’s beautiful temples, tea houses and historic neighborhoods Kyoto is surrounded by spectacular nature including mountains, forests and rivers. 

 

This boat trip is a fantastic way to see a different side of Kyoto. It is two hours of a calm journey on a mostly a smooth river, with a few rapids for some additional excitement. The boatman steer the flat bottom boat with an oar and bamboo poles to navigate through the steep mountain canyons.

 

The ravine is full of beautiful scenery, and depending on the season you can see cherry blossoms, vivid greenery, fall leaves or even snow. The river is also popular for fishing, with large pools and deep pools over 10 meters deep. Along the way you tall forest covered mountains are on both sides of the river, the highest is Mt. Atago, 924M, there are also massive rock formations, tons of trees, fish, birds, bridges and trains passing.  Going on this boat ride is a relaxing way to a different side of Kyoto.
